A different kind of music

Have you heard the music a tree makes?
Wind tapping drumbeats on the leaves,
evoking a thousand-leaved cymbal-song,
sunbeams quivering in a dance-along.

Have you heard the music a river makes?
Through meadow, hill and vale it skips,
singing a silver-tongued melody,
of mad longing to merge with the sea.

Have you heard the music a forest makes?
The sighs of trees, the calls of birds,
a warbling brook’s sweet laughing voice,
in the silence deep, softly rejoice.

Have you heard the music a flower makes?
As from bud to blossom it wakes,
unfurling each petal in perfect calm,
in its heart, the silence of dawn.

Have you heard the music a heart makes?
Sorrow / joy its strings strums,
as dreams form and shatter soundlessly,
and hopes rise and fall endlessly.

Have you heard the music a soul makes?
As shedding body and mind it takes
off in flight, free and boundless,
to float in supreme bliss endless...

  1. But I have heard the music Allahdeen makes, with such lovely verses, a wonderful heart and the sweetest of souls, all conducted to perfection, as a befitting tribute to the Lord.

Brilliant, dear Allahdeen, this is a beauty.
